duplo:
Burgerville is a regional fast food chain in Oregon and southern Washington. They favor local ingredients and feature a different seasonal item each month. This month is strawberries, which means strawberry shortcake and… balsamic strawberry and goat cheese paninos!
Pretty damn fancy for drive-thru food.
Alright. Amanda and I gave these a shot last night and ended up having a really funny/weird experience. It went a little something like this…
Me: Hi how you doin!?
Guy at Counter: Chillin.
Me: Good answer! So we’d like two Goat Cheese Panino baskets please.
GAC: Are you sure?
Me: …. yes.
GAC (smiling and laughing a bit): Alright, but if you don’t like it you can bring it back.
Amanda: Is there something wrong with them? It’s goat cheese with strawberries, how can it be bad!?
GAC: I’m just sayin, if you don’t like it bring it back.
Me: Ha! Ok dude, thanks for the warning!
Amanda (walking away): I’m scared.
Me: Me too.
So as we sat down to eat, the guy was watching us to gauge our reaction. We both took our first bite at the same time and PHEW - pretty good! He looked over laughing at us as we shot him a big Thumbs Up. They’re not bad at all. They could use some chicken though, which would nullify the vegetarian angle they’re taking with this meal.
I’ve never been asked “Are you sure?” when ordering anything but super hot chicken wings. Amanda thought the guy was really a Burger King employee disguised as a Burgerville employee trying to deter customers. Like if we waited longer he would’ve recommended that she should “Have it your way!” She might be right.
We had this yesterday too, drive-thru style. If I had been given the option to bring it back and I wasn’t already at my house, I would have. Thought it was pretty nasty, but the new Alaskan sole parmesan thingy is good!
